What is ISO 14001?
A worldwide standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS) is ISO 14001. It lays out the criteria to assist the organization in increasing resource efficiency and waste reduction, giving it a competitive advantage and earning the trust of stakeholders.
The most recent version of ISO 14001 is ISO 14001:2015, which contains relevant improvements, including elevating environmental management's importance within an organization's strategic planning processes, increasing leadership management involvement, and strengthening devotion to proactive initiatives that improve environmental performance.
The ISO 14001:2015 revision also includes incorporating a High-Level Structure (HLS) as part of the effort to structure all ISO standards similarly. ISO 14001 may also be combined with other management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 22000, HACCP MS and ISO 45001 (OHSAS 18001) to provide the basis for an Integrated Management System (IMS).
