What is MS 2530?

The Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) Certification Scheme is the national scheme in Malaysia for oil palm plantations, independent and organised smallholdings, and palm oil processing facilities to be certified against the requirements of the MSPO Standards.

MS 2530 is based on 5 Quality Management Principles:

Management commitment and responsibilities.
Transparency.
Compliance to Legal Requirements.
Social Responsibility, health ,safety and employment conditions.
Environment, natural resources, Biodiversity and ecosystem services.

Why sustainability certification is needed for oil palm?

To address the issues related to Climate Change (Planting on peat land, fire, haze, and Green House Gases).
Addressing the issues on Deforestation which affecting the biodiversity loss, and conservation of high biodiversity value areas.
Addressing the social issues related to employment conditions and child and force labor.
